The Indepedent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC and the Kenya Media Sector Working Group, KMSWG today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise collaboration on election reporting ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The agreement establishes a structured framework for engagement between the electoral body and the media, aimed at strengthening transparency, improving access to information, and enhancing public understanding of the electoral process across its full cycle.

The MoU also places emphasis on capacity building for journalists, coordinated communication, and joint efforts to counter misinformation and disinformation.

It is expected to support more consistent, accurate and responsible election coverage, while reinforcing public confidence in the integrity of the electoral process as preparations for 2027 gather momentum.
